Composer Ko Matsushita’s Ima Kokoni (Now I’m Here) will be part of our repertoire for Just the Few of Us!

We pray we’d do a good job with Ima Kokoni!

Besides that we’re premiering the arrangements of few young local and overseas arrangers, namely Annaleigh Hudson (USA), Alvis Chioang (Singapore), Derrick Kam (Singapore), Kaze Minakamo (Japan), Sonja Karlson (Australia), and Fanella Chan (Singapore). All never-heard-before arrangements by them, plus Matsushita’s piece will be performed by and for “JUST THE FEW OF US”.

Tickets are already selling at here, we hope that you’d enjoy a simple night of 7 singers performing songs a cappella and presenting their strongest suit. Remember: we’re on 9th July, 8PM at the Esplanade Recital Studio – Singapore!

Tickets at $25, bulk purchases at $20 each for 10 and more tickets. Promotions and information are available through The A Cappella Society.

Companies are encouraged to donate tickets towards a good cause for youths to encourage appreciation for arts (or just music). More details about our ticket donation scheme can be attained through Fanella (email: fanella@acappuccino.co.cc).

It’s been so long since we’ve updated this place. We’ve all been busy with our own lives – being young adults indeed brings its own set of priorities.

BUT it doesn’t mean we’re not singing, but we’re bringing you news for our concert!! It’s still going on and we’re all running at full pace to bring you the best of ourselves!

We’ve been caroling at Suntec and we’ll be appearing at Kinokuniya on Christmas Eve, 5PM at Takashimaya and 8PM at Bugis Junction.

The whole group has taken on a White and Silver costume and we’re looking rather cool with it, ladies in scarves and the guys looking quite mafia.

No worries, I was the one taking the photo. We’re caroling as a sextet with additional singers to elleviate some of our schedular issues. Haha..

And before I sign off, we’d like to wish all fans and friends of the group, Merry Christmas and a great new year up ahead with us!

We hope you have been well.

We have members of the public emailing us and inquiring about performances that have been promoting our presence, and possibly (to our impression) even using our official publicity photos in their materials.

As performers and people who want to share our love for a cappella music and in choral music as we do, we appreciate the fact that Acappuccino has established itself as a vocal ensemble with its unique blend to present our repertoire.

This announcement is specially so to avoid disappointing any supporters. We regularly update our performance schedules on our FaceBook page (and group) as this site is undergoing some major construction, possibly shifting to our own domain, but until that is concrete, these are just mere plans.

We have decided not to take any action against such ill-organised committees that have publicised our presence at their events without first approaching us.

All in all, our upcoming performances are as follows:

1. International A Cappella Festival 2, 2010

22nd October, 8PM, The Arts House Chamber

Acappuccino will be performing alongside Republic Rhapsody and The Dotz.

2. Caroling

Watch our online presences for the web-launch of our Christmas series, Home for Christmas, which includes traditional and contemporary carols for your merry making and yuletide pleasures.

3. Just the Few of Us

We will be presenting our very own concert right in the heart of the city at the Esplanade Recital Studio.

We are proud to have The A Cappella Society support us in our first concert, where we will go back to where we began from – performing some ensemble favourites to contemporary and pop numbers in our usual style of close-harmony, “non-percussed” style, with just the few of us.

At least we’ve settled the date and venue earlier this time round. =P

With the group working towards more complex music, and a wider repertoire, the group is looking towards expanding into an octet from our current group size of a quintet.

Currently we have 2 members in the Sopranos and Tenors each, plus we’re already auditioned a few Basses and are slowly working with them to choose our 7th member.

So we’re now beginning our search for a new Alto member to join us in our musical voyage.

Requirements:

• Female
• Basic choral background, or background in singing, a plus if you have done harmonies in a group or elsewhere
• Confident performer, or at least a confident singer.
• A range that extends F3 (C4 being Middle C) to D5. Capable to hold a tune. (An audition will be held.)
• Have no objections towards any form of vocal music, as we perform choral music to popular contemporary music.
• A team player whom can easily gel into the group’s camaderie.

Feel free to spread the word around, as we’re looking forward to working with our 8-part repertoire for our concert in mid-2011.

The ladies of Whim performed 4 stunning numbers with sass, class and lots of heart. An arrangement of the Indigo Girls hit, Galileo, was taught (yes, including the guys!) and it was stunning hearing Natalie and Liza on teh different solos, duet with Gussie.

Here’s a toast to the ladies on their way to Chennai, India to continue on their world tour!
